Privacy Policy

Outer Rim Homestead Creations respects your privacy. This policy explains what customer information we collect, why we use it, who may process it, how long we keep it, and the choices available to you.

Who is responsible

Outer Rim Homestead Creations is responsible for personal information under its control. Our Privacy Officer can be reached at tyler@outerrimhomestead.ca or by mail at 373 Bd Broadway, Grand-Sault, NB E3Z 1A0, Canada.

Information we collect

• Account information: if you choose Google sign-in, we receive your name, email address, account identifier, and profile photo.
• Shopping and service information: cart contents, artwork choices, print sizes, orders, rental requests, delivery preferences, reviews, discount codes, and support messages.
• Contact and fulfilment information: name, email, phone number, shipping or installation address, and order or rental details.
• Market and promotion information: details you voluntarily provide for a market raffle or promotion, together with your consent record and whether a one-time code was sent or used.
• Technical information: security logs and the network information needed to deliver the website and protect it from misuse.

Why we use information

We use customer information to provide accounts and saved carts, prepare and fulfil orders, arrange delivery or pickup, respond to chat and support requests, administer rentals and reviews, send requested transaction updates, prevent fraud or misuse, meet tax and accounting duties, and maintain the website. We do not sell or rent personal information.

Necessary features and optional analytics

Necessary browser storage keeps your cart, sign-in state, chat key, privacy choice, and other requested store features working.

Privacy-limited analytics runs by default to record aggregate page, artwork, cart, checkout, device-category, referring-page, and approximate city and country totals. The server may use an IP address momentarily to determine approximate city and country, but the IP address is not written to analytics records or retained in an analytics cache. This default mode does not create a visitor profile or associate activity with a name or email.

Detailed analytics runs only after you select Allow detailed analytics. It can create a private visitor profile containing pages viewed, artwork views, clicks, time on pages, cart and checkout events, referring page, device category, an anonymous browser identifier, and approximate city and country. If you later sign in or identify yourself during checkout, your name and email may be associated with that profile. Analytics does not record payment card details, chat contents, passwords, precise GPS location, or the contents typed into checkout fields.

Review or change privacy choices

Live chat

If you open the chat, we store the messages and replies needed to continue the conversation. A random private chat key is kept in this browser so you can return to it. Owner notifications contain a short preview. Please do not send payment card information, passwords, government identification, or other highly sensitive information through chat.

Reviews and public information

Submitting a review is optional. Approved reviews may appear publicly with the artwork title and a shortened display name, normally your first name and last initial. Contact us if you want a published review corrected or removed.

Marketing messages

Promotional emails are sent only where we have the required consent or another lawful basis. They identify Outer Rim Homestead Creations and include a way to unsubscribe. Transactional messages about an order, rental, support request, or security issue are not marketing messages. You may withdraw marketing consent at any time by replying “Unsubscribe” or contacting the Privacy Officer.

Service providers and processing locations

We use service providers only as needed to operate the store. These may include Google Firebase and Google Identity for hosting, storage, security, and sign-in; email delivery services; PayPal if you choose that payment option; print, shipping, delivery, or installation partners; and technical location services for consented approximate analytics. Providers may process information in Canada, the United States, or other countries where they operate, so information may be subject to the laws of those places.

We disclose information when required by law, to complete a service you requested, or to protect customers, the business, and the website. We do not give fulfilment partners more customer information than they need for their part of the order.

Retention

• Detailed optional analytics and visitor profiles are automatically removed after about 13 months.
• Inactive server-saved carts are automatically removed after about 45 days.
• Live chat records are automatically removed after about 12 months.
• Order, rental, payment, tax, fraud-prevention, and accounting records may be kept for up to seven years or longer when legally required.
• Account profiles, reviews, consent records, and active customer-service records are kept only while needed for their stated purpose, until a valid deletion request, or while a legal obligation applies.

Browser storage remains on your device until you clear site data or use the relevant browser controls.

Safeguards

We use access controls, authenticated owner tools, encrypted HTTPS connections, restricted database rules, secret management, input limits, security headers, rate limits, dependency checks, backups and provider safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. No online system can be guaranteed completely secure. If a privacy breach creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected people and the appropriate regulator as required.

Your rights and choices

You may ask what personal information we hold about you, request access or correction, withdraw optional consent, unsubscribe from marketing, or request deletion subject to legal exceptions. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. See our privacy request and data deletion instructions.

Children

This store is intended for adults purchasing or renting artwork. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without appropriate consent. A parent or guardian may contact the Privacy Officer to request removal.

Changes and questions

We may update this policy when the store or legal requirements change. The effective date above shows the latest revision. Questions, concerns, or privacy requests may be sent to the Privacy Officer at tyler@outerrimhomestead.ca. You may also raise a concern with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
