So Many Colours Leave Me Blind explores the tension between intensity and restraint. Fluorescent pink, violet, green and yellow are concentrated at the centre of an expansive white field, using complementary colour relationships to create contrast, vibration and visual tension. Layers of paint are scraped, dragged and interrupted across a heavily textured surface, allowing colours to overlap, break apart and reveal traces of what lies beneath. Fine linear marks cut through the larger gestures, bringing moments of structure into an otherwise instinctive and physical painting process. While the centre is saturated and energetic, the surrounding white creates space and stillness. Its sculptural texture catches and shifts with the light, allowing the quieter areas of the painting to remain active without competing with the intensity of the colour. The title, taken from the lyric “So many colours leave me blind,” reflects this contrast between visual excess and emptiness—the point at which colour becomes so intense that it almost dissolves back into light.
